Michael Keaton’s Role as Adrian Toomes in ‘Morbius’ Isn’t Confirmed, 3 Other Characters He Could Play

The moment Sony Pictures' Morbius trailer showed Michael Keaton, fans connected him to his Marvel Cinematic Universe villain, Adrian Tomes, aka, The Vulture, in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Theories of the blending of the two worlds have hit the internet, with fans even suspecting Morbius has been reintroduced to add Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in the film. However, Marvel or Sony haven't actually confirmed Keaton as Adrian Tomes's Vulture in Morbius. Here are three other characters Keaton could play in the Jared Leto Morbius movie.

3. Michael Keaton Could Play a Non-MCU Adrian Toomes, aka the Vulture Variant in 'Morbius'

Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness blew up universes together. What fans don't know, however, is how much crossover is in store. Sony confirmed that the Morbius and Tom Hardy Venom movies exist in the same universe.

Some theories suggest that The Amazing Spider-Man movies also take place in Sony Marvel movies with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

However, trying to fit the MCU Vulture has proven difficult. An easy solution would be that Morbius Michael Keaton is not the same Adrian Tomes who came before Tom Holland and Zendaya.

In the same way, JK Simmons starred in the Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy and Spider-Man: No Way Home as J. Having played Jonah Jameson, Keaton could easily play a Vulture version in the Sony Universe.

2. Don Fortunato was related to 'Morbius' villain Loxius Crown, aka Hunger (Matt Smith), Venom and Spider-Man.

Matt Smith (Doctor Who) plays Loxius Crown, aka Hunger, the Marvel Bad Man and Morbius Villain. However, he has little history in Marvel Comics. He has only appeared in five comics since debuting in January '97.

However, Loxius Crown and Morbius have a similar character. Don Fortunato exists as a character similar to Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. He hired the Crown to kidnap Morbius in order to study him and find out how his powers work.

While there is little evidence for Michael Keaton playing Don Fortunato over Adrian Tomes in Morbius, the villain also had a Venom symbiosis at one time. Their son became Venom when Eddie Brock didn't have Black Goo for a time.

When Keaton tells Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) that he should "keep in touch", many assumed it hinted at a Sinister Six team-up. However, Keaton's villain may have darker plans.

The rights to the movie and TV versions of Kingpin are questionable, possibly owned by Sony, Marvel, or partly both. Not only does Sony completely own Don Fortunato, but his relationships with Morbius, Venom, and Spider-Man would make him a perfect addition to the Sony Universe.

1. Some Marvel Fans Think Michael Keaton Will Just Play 'Morbius' Cellmate, Not Adrian Tomes

Many Marvel fans feel less than optimistic about Keaton's role in Morbius. Some think Michael Keaton won't play Adrian Toomes, Vulture, or even another Marvel Comics foe.

In a scene from the Morbius trailers, Keaton appears in a prison cell with Jared Leto's protagonist. Fans suspect that Keaton may play only a relatively minor role in the Sony film.
