Tornado watch issued for Panola County

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Panola County until 3 a.m.

Hazards include tornadoes, hail and scattered wind gusts.

In a hazardous weather warning issued earlier on Monday, the National Weather Service said some storms "may be severe on Monday night, with large hail, destructive winds and isolated tornadoes possible."

"These storms are expected to slow as they enter northwest Louisiana late this evening, causing locally heavy rainfall and an increased risk of flooding in parts of southwest Arkansas, northwest Louisiana and Lower East Texas While the amount of precipitation will range from two to four inches over most of the region through tonight, locally higher amounts of more than six inches will be possible."

The storm is likely to continue through Tuesday morning.

NWS said, "While rain and thundershowers will continue Tuesday morning in southern Arkansas, northern Louisiana and Deep East Texas, the risk of severe and flash flooding will continue in these areas, which will decrease from west to east by afternoon." NWS said. "Later, cooler and drier conditions will return to the region for the remainder of the week."
