Four state women’s programs earn WNIT bids

Roanoke, VA (WFXR) -- The Commonwealth of Virginia will have four teams playing in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. Liberty will make its third foray into postseason WNIT, after appearing in 2011 and 2016. VCU earns a spot in WNIT.

The Norfolk State women's basketball team received an automatic berth to the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The announcement marks the team's first national post-season selection and first appearance at WNIT since 2002.

For the ninth time in the program's history, the Old Dominion women's basketball team will be represented in the postseason WNIT.

The tournament bracket will be unveiled on Monday, with 32 first-round games between Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All postseason WNIT competitions will be hosted by one of the two participating teams in that matchup, leading up to the championship game on April 2.
