Benedict Cumberbatch Reacts to Sam Elliott's Harsh Criticism of 'The Power of the Dog'

Benedict Cumberbatch is breaking his silence to defend his latest film, The Power of the Dog.

Recently, Sam Elliott criticized the Netflix film directed by Jane Champion, calling it a "piece of s-t".

In a new interview with BAFTA Film Sessions, Benedict reacted to Sam's harsh criticism of the film.

According to Digital Spy, Benedict began, "I'm trying very hard not to say anything about a very strange reaction that happened the other day here on a radio podcast."

Benedict continued, "without making sense to stir over the ashes of him [...] "These people still exist in our world. Whether it's at our doorstep or down the street or someone we meet at the bar or pub or in the playground, there's aggression and anger and frustration and it's hard to control or control who you are in that moment. There is an inability to know. harm to that person and, as we know, harm to those around them.

He continued, "There's nothing wrong with watching a character go down to its root cause. It's a very specific case of repression, but it's also because of the intolerance of that true identity that Phil isn't fully aware of." Maybe. The more we look under the hood of toxic masculinity and try to discover its root causes, the more likely we are to deal with it when it happens to our kids.”

The Power of the Dog has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
