Joet Gonzalez Stops Tough Jeo Santisima In 9th Round On Ramirez-Pedraza Undercard

Joet Gonzalez got into another action-packed fight Friday night.

Four-and-a-half months after his one-sided loss to Emanuel Navarrete, however, the featherweight contender stopped Gio Santissima a game in the ninth round of a 10-round bout scheduled in Fresno, California. Santissima showed a lot of toughness and was mostly competitive, but referee Edward Colantes stopped the action after González's right hand 2:05 on the Jose Ramírez-Jose Pedraza undercard at the Save Mart center in the ninth round.

Colantes had warned Shantiseema before the ninth round that if she did not like what she saw after the one-sided round of the eighth round, she would stop the action.

Gonzalez of Glendora, California, improved to 25-2 and recorded his 15th knockout. Santisima (21-4, 18 KO) of Masbet City, Philippines, lost within the distance for the second time in eight years as a supporter.

Gonzalez drilled Santissima with an overhand right that was just over 1:15 to go into the eighth round. Later in the eighth round, González brutalized Santissima with head and body shots, causing a ringside doctor to examine Shantissima when it ended.

Collantes told Santisima that he would stop the fight if he endures another one-sided round that resembles the Eighth.

Just after the halfway point of the seventh round, Gonzalez brought up a left uppercut, then a left hook over the body, and then another left uppercut over the head of Sentisima. He broke Shantisima in the seventh round with just 20 seconds on the clock with another left hook to the head.

Santisima and Gonzalez engaged in an amusing exchange just after the midpoint of the sixth round. Gonzalez's right hand carried Shantisima across the ring with about 20 seconds to go into the sixth round

Gonzalez got a good extension on the right hand that landed just halfway through the fifth round. Santisima and Gonzalez held their ground and exchanged punches in the last 25 seconds of the fifth round.

Santisima backed González into the ropes and attacked him just before the halfway point of the fourth round. However, González was not hurt during that sequence, and later turned on the offensive in the fourth round.

Gonzalez drilled Santisima straight with more than 1:15 to go into the third round.

Shantisima hit Gonzalez's guard with a right hand to the body around 1:15 in the first round. Shantisima later landed a left and then a right to Gonzalez's body in the first round.
