The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a DC police officer was shot and wounded Sunday night in Northwest DC. The officers closed the barricading, but the suspect is still on the run.
Police said the officer's injuries were not life-threatening. The officer, whose name has not been disclosed, has been discharged from the hospital.
MPD deputy director Kristen Metzger said the shooting happened when officers approached a man across the street in the 1400 block of Quincy Street NW. Police said the man opened fire at some point during the conversation.
An officer from the fourth district was killed and taken to hospital, Metzger said.

Police Chief Robert Conti III said it did not appear that officers opened fire. He also said he contacted the man because he seemed "suspicious in terms of his behavior," but Conti did not elaborate.
The department had earlier said that the gunman fled the spot and entered a multi-unit building in the area. Officials said the entire SWAT team was deployed, but the suspect was not found in the building.
"We'll be out here for a while until we find the person responsible," Conti said.
No further details were given about the suspect and circumstances of the shooting.
Anyone with information should contact police at 202-727-9099.
