Sayreville residents protested on Sunday against plans to replace ball fields named for a war hero with a transportation hub.
Sereville Public Schools is looking to use the ballfield, named in honor of Wayne Grant, who was killed in Vietnam, to create a hub for school buses.
The district says this will reduce problems caused by using outside companies – such as shortages and delays.
The march was led by Bob Bauthillet, a former Navy soldier. Earlier he had coached on the field.
The school district says it is looking at other locations to set up this transportation hub. This is expected to be a topic during Monday night's city council meeting.
