“I’ve never seen Michael Jordan do what Klay Thompson did!”: When Steve Kerr and the whole basketball community was awestruck by Warriors guard’s 37-point quarter
A prominent Klay Thompson did something even Michael Jordan couldn't, said former MJ teammate Steve Kerr.
Since his return, Klay Thompson has only been able to glimpse his former self. In the six matches he has played this season, Thompson averages 14.7 points per game, while shooting career is low in field goal percentage (37.2) and 3-point percentage (30.2).
Missing a 2-straight season of basketball can do this to anyone. Tearing the ACL or Achilles tendon are some of the most brutal injuries in any sport. They have proved to be the end of careers for many athletes.
But everyone knew Kel would be back. Even if he is able to be half of what he used to be on both ends of the court, it will be huge for the Warriors. They've got a few pieces to be one of the top teams in the league, even without half of their Splash Brothers.
While it is true that no prime can replace Klay Thompson, simply his presence in the starting lineup will be a boost for Dub to advance to the championship.
But either way, if they even get the old Thompson back in some of their post-season games, it will be over for the other teams.
Klay Thompson Became GOAT for a Quarter and Did Something Even Michael Jordan Couldn't
Prime Klay Thompson can act like no one else has ever seen on the basketball court. One of the greatest point defenders and his teammate Stephen Curry, certainly not LeBron James and not even Michael Jeffrey Jordan.
In a 52-point performance against the Kings in 2015, Kell had the best quarter ever in the NBA that astonished every basketball player and even his head coach and former Bulls legend teammate.
7 years ago today, KLAY THOMPSON had one of the greatest quarters in NBA history without missing a single shot 🔥

In the same quarter, Thompson scored an NBA-record 37-points, the man not missing a single shot. He went on to score 13 runs off the ground, including 9 for 9 from three-point range.
If he finds that area again, it will be for the other team's chances of winning the championship. Imagine no one would be able to stop Kel in the 2022 finals against the Brooklyn Nets.
