John Cena appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday and expressed doubts about appearing at WrestleMania 38 in April, also noting that he "has not been with WWE by a long shot"
"WrestleMania usually happens in late March, early April. I don't know if I'm going to make it this year or not. And it's a good puzzle because there are so many good opportunities coming up, which I will take." And if all these things go well, I don't know if I will be able to make WrestleMania.
"But I'll tell you and everyone watching, I haven't been with WWE in a long time. It's my home, I love it. I was able to go back and welcome the audience for a few months during the summer when They welcomed the audience back to the arenas, so I've taken my last performance a long way."
Cena last appeared in a WWE ring on September 10, when he, Rey Mysterio and Dominic Mysterio won a six-man tag team match at The Bloodline in a dark main event on SmackDown.
In August, Cena lost to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.
Cena was talking to Ellen DeGeneres to promote the series Peacemaker on HBO Max.
The wrestler-actor has recently been busy outside the ring, appearing in three films (F9: The Fast Saga, The Suicide Squad, Vacation Friends) released in 2021. He will also appear in two projects (Argyle, The Independent) in production.
In other words, Cena might not have time to make a cameo in WWE right now.
WrestleMania 38 will take place at AT&T Stadium on April 2 and 3 in Arlington, Texas.
