WATCH: Scottie Scheffler’s elated wife joyfully crashes post-win interview

Scotty Scheffler was on live TV and was about to talk about how tough Bay Hill's test had been over the past four days. But first, he had to take a quick break and hug his wife, Meredith, who had arrived on the scene to celebrate her husband's second win in the last three starts.

To recap: Schaeffler had just signed for his even-par 72, and it was enough for a one-stroke victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday, after missing a birdie putt on the 18th hole of Billy Horschel. it was good. Schaeffler had just begun an interview with NBC Golf's Kathryn Tappan, but Tappan's second question was interrupted. She tried to ask Scheffler how challenging the week was, but before she could finish, Scheffler smiled, looked out of the screen, and was soon greeted by Meredith.

"I'm proud of you!" he said. "Way to go, [Caddy] Teddy [Scott]! I'm so proud of you!"

Meredith also tells Scheffler that her grandmother and parents are there for all of this. (Her grandmother, who will turn 87 next week, walked all 18 holes on Sunday.) Whether Meredith knew she was on TV is unknown. Whether he cared, also unknown. But who can blame him? The man just won $2.16 million.

Schaeffler eventually returned to answer one final question before the festivities could resume.

"Meredith clearly knows me better than anyone, being my wife," Scheffler said later in her press conference. "She knows how hard it is when I don't win. So it's so special to be able to celebrate a victory, and it's so nice to have my parents here with all the sacrifices they made growing up." . I'm really happy."

As the broadcast was closing for the night, cameras showed Scheffler and Meredith walking through a parking lot, one of their post-win obligations. Meredith was still pumped.

"Well, Meredith is definitely excited, and why not?" Dan Hicks said. "Her husband is on the PGA Tour."

"Yes," said Paul Azinger. "She's a star now."

Horschel and the rest of the family later joined in the festivities.
