Residente Calls J Balvin A Racist Imbecile On New Diss Track

The Resident and Jay Balvin have been feuding since September, when Balvin accused the Latin Grammys of discriminating against reggaeton artists and called for a boycott (despite being nominated three times). The resident thought this was stupid, and compared Balvin's music to a hot dog cart: "Almost everyone likes it, but when those guys want to eat well, they go to a Michelin-starred restaurant."

Since then, Balvin has ventured into hot water a couple of times. In October, he released a video for his song "Pera", which means "bitch" in Spanish, which shows him walking on leash to black women. After apologizing and removing the video from "honour", Balvin faced another controversy when he, a white Colombian, accepted the award for Best Afro-Latino Artist of the Year at the African Entertainment Awards. After another backlash, the award was immediately named the best Latin artist of the year.

The Residents are taking note of it all, and now, they've gathered all their criticism of Balvin into one scathing eight-minute dis track, a freestyle released yesterday that features Argentinian producer Bizarrap's BZRP Music on YouTube. The session was released as part of the series. “He is a rude with dyed hair who holds black women with a strap on his neck,” Resident raps. "A white man who lost his way, accepting his award for all the divine, Afro-Latino... the worst and most serious thing is: this asshole is a racist and he doesn't know it."

The resident claimed in an Instagram video posted on Wednesday that Balvin came to know about the dis track and tried to stop him from coming out. "They called the producer, who is a kid, to stop the track, but this kid has balls and didn't give up," said the resident. "They threatened to sue my label if I released the track. He asked me to call with the head of my label to stop releasing the track. Regardless, the track is now available in the world, and you can listen to it below.
