The polarizing contestant from season two of the Netflix hit insisted, “It’s nature, baby. We’re animals.”
The premise of "Love Is Blind" in the title is right there.
But throughout season two of the Netflix romance contest, contestant Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee's demeanor proved that he didn't really believe in the concept of blind love — or in kind comments and tact.
However, as fans noticed during the reunion special, he still believes in speaking his mind and voicing his hot takes, even if it means declaring his attraction to Vanessa Lachey, right up to her husband. and opposite co-host Nick Lachey.
Both Lachey tried to tell the Chicago-based vet that he was on the wrong show, judging by his thoughts. Unsurprisingly, this was a point he argued for.
"I want the emotional connection — everything we know the show should do," he shot back. "But there are also norms that go beyond emotional connection. Love is not purely blind to me. ... I want it to be partially blind. I want it to be: 'Love is blurry, ' Ok?"
This left the host couple wondering why they didn't start their own show called "Love Is Blurry," but they were only interested in defending their position.
"We all have our own physical preferences," Chatterjee said. "Listen, every woman in here is beautiful. I think you're all beautiful. I'm not attracted to all of you."
Then the polarizing contestant said something that made her co-stars cry and cover their faces - and Nick was stunned to see Lachey.
"Unfortunately, I'm only attracted to Vanessa," Chatterjee said.
The object of his affection was not affected.
"I've done nothing but bother you this whole time," he told her. "It's a messy relationship."
I wish he was powerless over his feelings, according to Chatterjee.
"You don't choose," he said. "It's nature, baby. We're animals."
But the 98 Degrees singer had something to say about it.
"No, you treat animals," he went to the vet, clapping to Deepti Vempati, the vet's former fiancée. "We are humans."
