Cleveland Guardians rookie Steven Cowan continues to make history, as he is the only player to reach base 15 times in the first four games of his career since at least 1901. He also set a record by reaching base 12 times in his first three matches.
Kwan, the No. 5 prospect in Cleveland's system according to The Athletics' Keith Law, entered Monday with eight hits in 10 at-bats after going 5-for-5 in the Guardians' 17-3 win over the Royals, one A game in which he too was hit by a pitch.
He went 1-for-3 in Monday's game against Kansas City, including a 3-run triple in the eighth en route to the Guardian's 10-7 victory. He has five in the season, with two more walks on Monday. Kwan didn't strike during spring training and hasn't swing-and-miss in the majors yet.
The 24-year-old outfielder stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 170 pounds, but as Law wrote in his prospective assessment, "Kwan hits, though, and hits and hits, going .328/.407/ .527 last year at age 23 between Double A and Triple A, with more walks than strikeouts."
Law also noted that Kwan's strike rate of 9.1 percent was the fifth lowest among minor-leagues with at least 200 plate appearances last season.
The Guardians are 2-2 in four games this season.
