Alabama Morning Drive: SEC tournament takes center stage

Good Thursday morning to all of you kind people who have decided to make Roll Tide Wire a small part of their day. I have lots of good news to share this morning. The SEC men's basketball tournament is officially under way and the Alabama football team is set to hit the ground Friday to begin spring practice.

The first round of the SEC tournament is over

The opening round of the 2022 SEC tournament went as expected. 12-seeded Missouri defeated 13-seeded Ole Miss 72-60, while 11-seeded Vanderbilt outclassed 14-seeded Georgia 86-51.

There are a total of four matchups in Tampa today. 8-seed Texas A&M will fight 9-seed Florida. 5-seed LSU will take on 12-seed Missouri. 7-seeded South Carolina will face 10-seeded Mississippi State. The final match of the night will be 6-seeded Alabama against Vanderbilt.

Each game can be viewed on the SEC network.

Alabama Baseball suffered an embarrassing defeat in the middle of the week

Yesterday was a rough day on the diamonds for the Alabama baseball team. Northern Alabama's bats were hot and it was too much for the Tide as the Lions defeated the Crimson Tide 9–5.

Alabama will enter their weekend series with Binghamton with a 9–5 record. This is the last weekend series before conference play begins on March 18 when the Tide will host the Florida Gators.

Spring practice will start from tomorrow

If that's not enough reason for you to get excited about the fact that tomorrow is Friday, here's another good news. Nick Saban and the Alabama football team will hit the practice ground tomorrow to begin spring practice.

Alabama will have a lot of questions to answer this spring. What is the offensive line going to look like? Who's running behind? Who will step on the wide receiver? Those questions are just the tip of the iceberg. Every Tide fan will surely be curious about the competition for QB2. There are also several early nominations and transfers that have excited Crimson Tide fans as well.

For the most part, there's a lot to be excited about this Thursday morning. We'll see what the mood is like on a Friday morning after Alabama-Wandy on Hardwood. After all, which 'Bama Hoops team' is going to show, it is difficult to tell.

This ends Thursday's edition of our Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone has a safe and happy day. Be sure to stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for all the latest on Alabama Crimson Tide!
