It was announced on Wednesday that the New York Knicks and Kemba Walker have reached a deal that will sideline the former All-Star for the rest of the season.
While most initially thought it was the team's choice, it may not have been. In a statement, Leon Rose said he "fully supported his decision", adding that it was to sideline Walker's choice.
It may sound strange, but it makes sense with the trajectory the Knicks are on this year. Rose also mentioned that Walker plans to "prepare for next season".
With that in mind, it is highly likely that Walker will end up on a different team next year. Which five teams around the league should Walker target?
5 teams to target Kemba Walker this summer: Charlotte Hornets
It was too obvious that could not be mentioned. Kemba Walker spent the bulk of his career with the Charlotte Hornets, so it would make sense for them to bring him back.
Walker LaMello would be a solid backup point guard behind the ball, as he traded Ish Smith at the trade deadline. He didn't need to play several minutes, but he could prove some solid floor distance.
However, spending money on a Walker may not be in the Hornet's best interest, as they have a few other issues to deal with such as their struggling center position.
That being said, the story of Walker going back to Charlotte will be heartwarming. It would be so much fun to see him go back to where it all started.
