Karnataka Night Curfew: Karnataka government announced certain restrictions for New Year related parties and gatherings, amid fresh COVID-19 concerns with new clusters emerging and increasing threat of the new Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has announced night curfew in the state for 10 days from December 28 from 10 pm to 5 am, Health Minister K Sudhakar said.
Along with the night curfew, the state government has also announced some restrictions for New Year-related parties and celebrations, amid new COVID-19 concerns with new groups and the growing threat of the new Omicron version of the coronavirus. .
Sudhakar said, "From December 28 onwards, for almost ten days, we would like to see imposition of night curfew, imposing Section 144 from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning."
Speaking to reporters after a high-level meeting of senior ministers, officials and the COVID Technical Advisory Committee chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, he said there is a ban on celebrations and celebrations for the New Year.
“There will be no celebrations, parties in the outdoor premises, especially those celebrating with DJs and large gatherings, they have been completely banned in Karnataka,” he said.
The minister also said that eateries, hotels, pubs and restaurants can have 50 per cent of the seating capacity of the premises.
So far 422 omicron cases have been reported in India, mostly in Maharashtra and Delhi.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his late night address to the nation announced vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 from January 3. He also announced a "precautionary dose" for health and frontline workers and people above 60 from January 10.
