Atletico Madrid vs. Man United result, highlights as Elanga levels late in Champions League

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid will have it all to play at Old Trafford next week after an entertaining 1-1 draw at Wanda Metropolitano in a Champions League round-of-16 battle on Wednesday.

The home team began the game on the front foot, quickly taking the lead after Joao Felix shot home a header from an excellent cross by Brazilian full-back Rennon Lodi.

Sime Versalco should have really doubled the lead before half-time for the Spanish champions before the break, removing Viktor Lindelof over David de Gea's crossbar.

United performed better than expected in the first half, relying on a spirited second half to achieve a positive final result. Ralph Rangnick's replacement gave the Red Devils a new lease of life late in the game, when Anthony Elanga lay down a through ball from Bruno Fernandes before confidently passing Jan Oblak.

After the disappointment of missing a penalty after United were knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this month, Elanga has made a spectacular comeback, the crucial European strike coming after scoring a late goal in Leeds on Sunday.

Anton Griezmann then thought he had won the late game, only to see his curling strike from inside the field deflected off the crossbar.

This ended the stage, setting up a second leg in Manchester to make it to the Champions League quarter-finals.
