Jennie Nguyen removed from 'Real Housewives' cast for offensive posts

The "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" star's posts supporting "White Lives Matter" resurfaced last week.

Bravo has removed Jenny Nguyen from the cast of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" after her offensive social media posts surfaced again.

The network announced the removal on social media on Tuesday.

"Bravo has stopped filming with Jenny Nguyen and will no longer be a cast member of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City'," Bravo said in the announcement. “We recognize that we failed to take appropriate action once his objectionable social media posts were brought to our attention. Going forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure that we are better informed. Make more thoughtful casting decisions."

Nguyen did not immediately respond to a request for comment. NBCUniversal is the parent company of both Bravo and NBC News.

Nguyen, a Vietnamese American, was accused of sharing images and text posts describing protesters as "BLM thugs" and "violent gangs" during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. She also reposted memes in support of "White Lives Matter". As well as anti-vaccination material.

In a cartoon she reposted, an elderly white woman shows a middle-aged white man a stick figure on her car.

"No, it's not my family, how many rioters have I killed!" The woman in the image says.

After the post surfaced again last week, Nguyen apologized on Instagram.

"I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook post from 2020 that reappeared today. At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I've since learned how offensive my words are. And were hurtful," she wrote. “This is why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about different perspectives from my own. I am sorry for those posts and sincerely for their pain. I'm sorry."

After apologizing, she continued to film with the cast of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City", despite being asked to fire her.

Other artists condemned Nguyen. In an Instagram post, Jen Shah said she was "disappointed" by the "outrageous apology" Nguyen shared. Shah said she was forced to "stand up" on behalf of her husband and black children.

“I am deeply hurt by the racially insensitive posts and comments. It was heartening to see her like and reposted comments that showed complete indifference towards those killed and to bring awareness to the deeper social justice issues plaguing our country. I am equally disappointed with the baseless apology that was issued."

Cast member Meredith Marks, reacting to the post in her statement, pointed to a gag order on the cast but promised a "result."

"Since it wasn't entirely clear in my last tweet and I can now speak more deeply, I'm sick of my coworker's racist and prejudiced posts," Marx said on Twitter. “I do not support or support these posts in any way, shape, or form. I stand with and support the communities affected and targeted by them. I am deeply upset and outraged by their actions. Black Lives Matter "
