Chicago Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. out 2-4 weeks with bone bruise

Chicago Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. will not play for 2 to 4 weeks after an MRI revealed a significant bone injury in his right knee, the team announced Thursday.

Jones Jr. extended his knee after awkwardly landing his leg 36 seconds into the game during Wednesday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. After the fall, she struggled to put more weight on her leg and had to help her in the locker room.

While an MRI didn't reveal any ligament damage, the Bulls are still missing Jones Jr., who was moved into the starting lineup for an extended absence for the last six games.

Chicago's depth has been thinned by recent injuries, with Jones Jr.'s joining Alex Caruso (Health and Safety Protocol), Javonte Green (groin) and Tyler Cook (ankle) on injury reports.

"Everyone faced a huge challenge defensively by moving forward," the Bulls said after Wednesday's game. "Understanding and helping each other and using our smarts at the same time."

To help bolster their bench, the Bulls signed Malcolm Hill to a 10-day contract on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Hill recently appeared in three games during a 10-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks, including a 13-point, 3-steel performance against the Bulls on December 29.
