Captain Aaron Finch says Australia can start planning a road to success in the Twenty20 World Cup when the 2022 matches are released on Friday.
The hosts of the tournament will begin their campaign in the Super 12 stage with a 2021 final rematch against New Zealand at the SCG on 22 October.
In what Finch described as a "tough" pool, Australia will also face England and Afghanistan in Group 1, as well as the two opponents to be decided by first-round action.
India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh have been included in Group 2.
Originally scheduled for 2020 in Australia but postponed due to COVID-19, the World Cup will begin on 16 October with 2014 champions Sri Lanka facing Namibia in Geelong.
Finch said, "Last time our plan was over-detailed and, again, knowing how the group nine months look like is really helpful because it can help bring that level of detail more into that planning stage. "
"Although it is a tough group. They are both tough. When you throw in qualifiers like West Indies, Sri Lanka, we have to play really well to get out of that group stage."
The Australia-New Zealand clash will come 11 months after Finch's side won their country's first T20 World Cup with an eight-wicket win in Dubai.
With a major Ashes campaign in place, Australia will go into a T20I series against Sri Lanka in February before Pakistan's three-format tour next month.
A three-match T20 series is also to be held in New Zealand in March.
Finch is wary of the workload at the World Cup and hinted that the stars will be rested for some short-form games this summer.
"It will be about giving people enough time to rest and recharge and get time at home and connect with people," he said.
"It's probably a thing we take for a bit. Once you're in the hub and bubble you're restricted what you can see, so it's also really important to catch up with family and friends.
"There will be some different names (selected) ... there will be people who will still be in the place of preparation for Pakistan.
"It's going to be mix and match (for T20s), it's always exciting to see some new players on board."
Other World Cup draw highlights include India taking on rivals Pakistan for the first time at the MCG on 23 October.
The tournament will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, culminating in the final under lights at the MCG on 13 November.
Finch hopes the experience will convince more international talent to play in future editions of Australia's Big Bash League competition.
"They add so much depth and firepower and world class to the tournament," he said.
