Joe Alvin knows the value of privacy very well, especially when it comes to his romance with Taylor Swift.
The British actor recently explained to Elle why he and his girlfriend keep their relationship a secret.
"It's not really [because I] want to be protected and private, it's a reaction to something else," Joe explained. "We live in a culture that is infiltrating so rapidly. The more you give and clearly, even if you don't, something will be taken."
While the pair, who have been dating since 2016, are no strangers to fame, the two rarely take their romances with them into the limelight. In fact, the couple has made only a few public appearances.
However, Joe gave a glimpse of how he feels about Taylor in February while discussing his Conversations With Friends character—who is in an open relationship. The 12-part series, based on the bestseller by Irish novelist Sally Rooney, is set to debut on Hulu on May 15.
"I think people can do what they want and make them happy," Joe said. "I'm clearly happy in a monogamous relationship."
For her part, Taylor touched on their low-key relationship in a conversation with Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone in November 2020.
The "Love Story" singer said they have made conscious choices to maintain their privacy as a couple.
