Simon Cowell has praised the late Jamal Edwards as he contemplated the loss of the 31-year-old on Tuesday evening.

As a music mogul himself, SYCO's Simon pointed to Jamal's "natural gift" for finding talent and praised the SB.TV founder's ambition.

Ek's father – who worked with Jamal's mother, Brenda Edwards when she competed on The X Factor in 2005 – also sent his love to Jamal's family as they mourn the music pioneer who died on Sunday morning. .

Along with a photo shared on Jamal's Instagram, Simon wrote: "I had the pleasure of meeting Jamal. He was an exceptionally talented young man, so ambitious, a real entrepreneur and had a natural gift for talent.

"I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I am sending my love to his family. Rest in peace, Jamal. Much love, Simon."

Beneath the post, several of Simon's social media followers wrote kind words.

One said of Jamal, "May his soul rest in peace."

As another added: "It's just shocking and so sad. I'm glad he made his mark with music. He'll live on forever! RIP Jamal."

More added: "Absolutely heartbreaking. Such a sad loss x" and "I met him even once, so charismatic and wonderful."

YouTube legend Jamal's death was confirmed by SB.TV on Sunday, after rumors and tributes circulated on social media.

On Monday, Jamal's doting mother Brenda Edwards - who stars in Loose Women - confirmed that she had passed away.

Brenda wrote a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain today, and it was read live on air by Susannah Reid.

"It is with great sadness that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning following a sudden illness. Me, his sister Tanish and the rest of their family and friends are completely devastated. Were the center of the world," she shared.

She continued: "As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for the privacy to mourn this unimaginable loss. I want to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

"Jamal was an inspiration to me and so many others. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PhD."

Yesterday, a friend reported that Jamal passed away on Sunday morning after the last DJ set at a bar the night before.

"The details are still unclear but we have been told it was a heart attack," a friend named Dwayne told MailOnline.

"He was playing DJ on Saturday night and finally came home early on Sunday morning.

"The family is still trying to come to terms with all this, but we hear that his mother found him in their bedroom and called an ambulance."

The source accompanied the businessman to Acton High School and said that his family shared with friends that Jamal had suffered a heart attack and was discovered by his famous mother.

Jamal was credited with helping launch the careers of stars such as Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Dave, the eldest of two children of the Loose Women presenter.

Jamal's talent as a pioneer earned him many accolades throughout his life.

In 2013 he was elected ambassador for youth charities, The Prince's Trust and Jamal was appointed an MBE for services to music in 2014.
