Carly Rae Jepsen energizes crowd with high-energy set, 'Call Me Maybe' singalong

Carly Rae Jepsen knows what her fans want and she worked all the way to Coachella on Friday afternoons.

Playing to an overflowing crowd in the Mojave tent, Jepsen delivered a high-energy set full of hits and of course, the gorgeous solo moments everyone was waiting for.

He had already kicked the crowd into a good frenzy, but when the first melody of "Call Me Maybe" sounded, the crowd went into a tizzy.

What followed was one of those magical Coachella moments where you and your 20,000 new best friends play that song you know all the words to with joy and a sense of sacrifice and oneness. The Grammy-nominated song of the summer from 2012 filled the tent with lightning that never really wanted the rest of the show.

And Jepsen, 36, also appeared to be having fun, commanding the stage with nothing but positive vibes brought in from Canada.

She was hinting to her fans about a new album with some recent social posts that were a scavenger hunt.

On April 4, Jepsen tweeted a map of the entire Coachella Valley with landmarks like windmills, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, and even the International Banana Museum in Mecca. There's a yellow X along I-10 on the ink-drawn map. Ax marks the location of a billboard with a picture of Jepsen and the words "Western Wind", which most believe is a reference to a song title or album title she is about to drop.

The billboard includes a phone number, 213-732-3275. When fans call the number, they hear Carly doing her best phone sex operator impression while teasing the new music, "Hello, you've reached the Carly Rae Jepsen hotline." She co, new music, tours and more. Promises updates on secrets.

And finally, the moment came when she debuted her new song "Western Wind" during her Friday performance, much to the delight of her fans. Jepsen's last album was "Dedicated Side B", which he released in May 2020.

She debuted with "Drug Like Me" followed by another fan favorite, "Emotion". When she started singing "Run Away with Me" and "I Really Want You", the crowd roared.

This wasn't Jepsen's first time at Coachella. In 2018, she was a surprise guest during a performance by the band The Bleachers. But she was the star of the show on Friday afternoon and there was probably nothing about it.
