Organizers announced Wednesday that just two bakeries entered all five categories in the eighth annual King Cake Snob Competition.
A newcomer to the competition, Susan's Sassy Sweets, located in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, took home the titles of Best Traditional King Cake and Best Freshness.
Claudia's King Cake, a bakery located just outside New Orleans in Harahan, won the Best Filled King Cake award for the 5th year in a row. Claudia's also won the award for Best Presentation and Best Flavor.
"Each year, we look forward to giving Louisianans the opportunity to voice their opinion about their favorite king cake and bakery," said Jay Connaughton, Managing Partner of Innovative Advertising, which organized the contest. “But this year’s contest was special for us in innovative advertising, as we were able to indulge in our favorite Louisiana entertainers and enjoy the regular carnival season. Congratulations to the bakeries and voters who contributed to the naming of our 2022 winners!
In a press release, King Cake Snob said Dong Phuong Bakery and Randazzo's Camellia City Bakery deserve an honorable mention.
King Cake Snob says it received more than 1,200 reviews for 330 king cakes during this year's contest.
