LAS CRUCES - Ash Wednesday is March 2, marking the start of the 2022 Lenten season that will last six weeks and end with Easter Sunday on April 17.
Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists and many other Christians will go to church on Wednesday and begin their journey of prayer, fasting and giving alms.
Christian churches will hold services all day on Wednesday. Unlike last year, state public health orders related to COVID-19 would not restrict the number of people allowed inside a church or religious gathering. However, individual churches are allowed to impose restrictions as they deem fit to protect their congregations. Check with your local church to see what guidance they have.
