Traci Braxton, younger sister of Toni Braxton, dies aged 50 following battle with cancer

Tracy Braxton passed away at the age of 50 after a year-long battle with cancer.

The actress, who starred in Ciners Wanted, There Is a Stranger in My House and Love, was the sister of singer Toni Braxton, 54.

Braxton had been battling cancer 'quietly' for a year and died on Friday, TMZ reports.

At the time of his death the Braxton Family Values star was reportedly surrounded by his mother and sisters.

Braxton is survived by her sisters, husband Kevin Surratt and their son Kevin Jr.

His son confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a picture of the two embracing, writing: 'When I heard the news of my mother being ill the first thing she said was I'm going to fight and beat it .

'She fought till the end and today she is at peace. I love my mother forever and it hurts a lot but it gives me peace to know that she is no longer in pain.

'I love you mom I'm going to miss you.'

Sister Tony shared a tribute from the family along with a photo of them all, writing: 'It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister Tracy.

'Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, a wonderful sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected artist. We will miss her a lot.

'Tracy passed this morning because it was snowing, our angel is now a snowflake.

'We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to lovingly send her home, celebrating her life. We are family forever. Love, the Braxton Family.'

The Braxtons had appeared on the family reality show for their full run from 2011 to 2020 as well as the recording of a hit song, Last Call.

She was one of five sisters, along with Tony, Towanda, Tamar, and Trina, and had an older brother, Michael.

It was announced last year that the Braxton Family Values would return for another series after moving to a new channel from their parent network, V TV, but Sister Towanda confirmed last month that the plans had failed and The show had ended for good.

The family has been going through tough times in recent years, along with niece Lauren Braxton, daughter of Michael Braxton, having died in 2019 at the age of 24 after a heroin overdose and fentanyl intoxication.

Sister Tamar was also taken to hospital in July 2020 after a suicide attempt, but was saved by boyfriend David Adefeso, who found her unresponsive at the Ritz Carlton Residence in Los Angeles.

She had opened up about her mental health battle after being released from the hospital, thanking her for helping save her life that day, and asking her to 'normalize and accept' mental health issues, and was not associated with 'shame and humiliation'. ,
