As the Daily Mail reports, the coffin carrying the body of Food Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in a Colombia hotel last Friday, was returned to the U.S. on Tuesday (March 29).
Food Fighters tour manager Gus Brandt reportedly remained in Colombia when the remaining band members returned to the US a day after the 50-year-old musician was found dead at the Four Seasons Casa Medina.
FOO FIGHTERS has canceled all of its previously announced shows due to Hawkins' death.
The band said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that Food Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins. We are sorry and share in this disappointment. Let's take that we won't see each other as planned. Instead, let's take this time to grieve, to heal, to bring our loved ones closer, and to appreciate all the music and memories we've created together With love, Foo Fighters."
An official cause of death for Hawkins has yet to be released, but the Columbia Attorney General's Office issued a preliminary toxicology report, which states that medical examiners found that Hawkins' body contained opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana and drugs. Evidence was found for 10 types of substances, including antidepressants. ,
Prior to joining FOO FIGHTERS in 1997, Hawking was the touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer in the progressive experimental band SYLVIA.
Hawkins is survived by his wife Alison, whom he married in 2005, and three children: Oliver Shane, Annabelle and Everleigh.
