Skateboarder legendary Tony Hawk shared on his Instagram on Tuesday that he broke his femur this week and is recovering from the injury in hospital.
As for Hawke, 53, Hawke acknowledged that the recovery process is going to be more difficult for him at this stage in his life, but he is "up for the challenge."
The X-ray image Hawk shared on his Instagram shows the injury appears to be serious. Hawke did not give a recovery timeline because it is too soon after his injury.
Hawking posted on Instagram on Tuesday that the injury had occurred a day earlier. His post features a video of him walking down a hallway with crutches.
As far as Hawke's future in skating is concerned, he knows it will be an uphill journey ahead.
Hawke's Instagram caption read, "I've said many times that I won't stop skating until I'm physically disabled." "A broken leg - with a lot of hardware - will probably be the biggest test of that cult. I'll be back ... maybe not at full potential but I resigned to that notion years ago when I was in 'mid-life'." It was close."
TMZ Sports reported that Hawke's injury resulted from a skating accident. However, Hawke did not clarify this in his Instagram post.
Hawke also noted that an HBO documentary about his life titled "Until the Wheels Fall Off" is due to be released soon. The trailer will release on Wednesday.
