According to police, an employee of an Oakmont pizza shop was in critical condition after being shot during a robbery attempt on Sunday night.
The shooting took place just before 4 pm. At Fox Pizza on Allegheny River Boulevard, Oakmont Police Chief Michael Ford said.
According to Allegheny County Police, the suspect entered the store and showed a gun. Police said that during the robbery, the suspect and the employee clashed and the victim was shot several times. The suspect fled on foot to California Avenue.
According to county police, the employee, a 34-year-old man, was shot in the chest and extremity and taken to hospital.
Officials described the suspect as a black man with a slim body ranging from about 5ft-4 to 5-feet-6. He was wearing black pants, a black ski mask and a red Robert Morris University hooded sweatshirt.
Police in Oakmont, Aspinwall, Sharpsburg, Plum, O'Hara, Penn Hills and other departments responded. Ford said county police have taken over the investigation.
