In a video tweeted by "Entertainment Tonight", the "Dancing With the Stars" alum is shown being hugged by his wife Peta Murgatroyd after returning to the US from Ukraine.
He told "Entertainment Tonight" "I don't want to be offended by what I just saw in peace elsewhere." "I really don't know what to say at this second."
Chmerkovskiy was documenting what he saw in Ukraine after the invasion of Russian forces last week.
According to his representative, Chmerkovskiy, who immigrated to the United States from Ukraine with his family in the 1990s, was in Ukraine working on the reality competition series "World of Dance U".
He left for Poland by train and shared a video from Warsaw on Wednesday as he waited for a flight home to California.
