Jordan Mailata a Hit on 'The Masked Singer'

The Eagles LT was so good, one judge was moved to tears and it has Mailata thinking about releasing his own music

Good thing the Eagles closed Jordan Malata last.

Had they not been there, the left tackle could have been closed to Hollywood, as his rookie deal would have ended after the 2022 season.

Malata was rocking the hit TV show, The Masked Singer, on Wednesday night.

The 6-9, 380-pound former Australian rugby player sang "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. After the performance, Malata is revealed as Thingmabob, a dress consisting of a large headpiece with large ears.

HollywoodLife did an exclusive interview with Malata about her performance on the show and asked her if she thought about pursuing a career in music instead of the NFL.

“When I was probably 17, I don’t know. I grew up around a family of musicians, grew up in church, and was singing all the time,” Jordan told HollywoodLife. “I didn’t really think Was that I was going to take it seriously. There were some people like my teacher who said that if I really focused on it, I could make a career in music. For my size, I was always a big kid and thought sports would be my career. ,

The games have been good for Malata.

He started out as a rugby player in his home country before NFL officials invited him to try out for their International Player Pathway program.

Malata had never played football and admitted that his only knowledge of the game was watching the Super Bowl. When asked in which position he would like to try, he said aggressively. This was a position he knew from watching the movie "The Blind Side".

He went to Florida's IMG Academy for training in February of 2018.

It was there that Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland met Malata.

Stoutland was about to go on golf vacation with his friends when Eagles GM Howie Roseman called him and said that he wanted him to go to IMG to see the big lineman he had heard about.

So, Stoutland got on a plane and went to Florida.

"I was like, this guy is different," Stoutland recalls working on Malata for the first time. "I mean big, huge man, who can move his legs, change direction, he has enough flexibility, but he needs to learn how to use his hands, how to use his eyes, All the little things. The boy has never played football before. How was his mental toughness going to be?

“Those Pop Warner days when you grind as a little guy when the rigors of football were brought to you, nothing like it. I had a lot of question marks in my mind, but I just said to (scouting) people, 'This is an unusual guy, and I don't know what's going to happen, but if he's going around after (in the draft), We should see this man.' I am so glad that he is here.

The Eagles took a flyer on Malata in the 2018 draft, selecting him in the seventh round, taking the 233rd player out of 256 players selected that year.

The Eagles are so pleased with how quickly Malata developed that they awarded him a four-year contract extension for $64 million that would keep him in the Eagles' colors until 2025.

Now though Malata may incorporate music into her life and release some of her music after her performance, one of the judges on The Masked Singer, Ken Jeong, was moved to tears, according to HollywoodLife.

"It got me thinking about releasing my music," he told HollywoodLife. "I'm just a sh*tty writer. I can't write music to save my life. We'll see what happens. It's in the cards now. The whole experience of being on The Masked Singer made me believe I could perform." And I have a good voice."
