JACKSONVILLE - Jacksonville State women's basketball was announced as part of the 2022 WNIT arena on Sunday.
Athletics director Greg Seitz said the school had bid to host the first round of games, but host sites have not been disclosed. The date, location and time of Gamecock's rival will be announced by 1 p.m. Monday. CT.
JSU finished the season with a 24–7 record, earning ASUN the No. 1 seed in the West Division. Gamecock fell to the Florida Gulf Coast 69-54 at the ASUN Championship Tournament at Alico Arena on Saturday evening.
Despite the defeat, Jacksonville would represent ASUN in the WNIT as an automatic qualifier of the state league.
For JSU, it was the first time since 1999 that it reached the conference championship game. A win on Saturday would be the First Division I Conference Tournament Championship and the first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance for the event. This last NCAA berth appearance came in 1993 (Division II).
The loss to the Eagles broke a seven-match winning streak. 24 victories for the Gamecocks Mark is the most winning season in Division-I program history.
