Actor Tushar Pandey says his understanding of the streaming space has evolved over the years and he has become more receptive to it.
Many actors have turned to the digital medium in recent times and actor Tusshar Pandey is no different. The Chhichhore (2019) fame actor says that during the two years of the pandemic, he realized that one cannot continue to look at big screen projects to move ahead in his career.
"It wasn't the fear that, 'Oh, theaters have not opened so what's the point of taking such projects'. I am weighing both equally in terms of audience reach. It (OTT) gave a face to everyone like me It is not easy for a cinema to do a solo lead and expect the same amount of audience. For new age actors, OTT has become a great platform to showcase our talent to the audience. Pandemic is one of the reasons behind my decision. And also because I want people to see more of me,” Pandey tells us.
The actor, who has featured in web projects like Ashram and the recently released Homecoming, says his understanding of the streaming space has evolved over the years and he has become more receptive to it.
“My first web experience was with Ashram, till then my understanding was only of films. I started to understand how fun this (OTT) medium is for an actor. The amount of attention paid to characters is higher than in a movie. The number of scenes…that kind of experience is that OTT is a great medium for an actor to dive into,” he added.
But it was not an easy call for him, as Pandey says after the massive success of his film Chhichhore, which released a year before the pandemic, he was not sure if doing an OTT project would dent his big screen prospects. .
“It was very awkward and it gave me time to understand what kind of work I was looking for. Sometimes when you do something big, it becomes difficult to clear your mind and understand what you want from it. That's how it's been good. Last year I shot for a few projects on OTT which will come out this year."
