Actress Pavleen Gujral says the infidelity shown in Gehriyaan was not right or wrong as such things happen, but the film focuses on why such things happen.
Deepika Padukone had a small role in Pavleen Gujral's Gehriyan as the onscreen mother, but the response she received was more than enough for her. “Many people have seen the film, and there have been mixed reactions. I start the film and stay there in pieces. I am overwhelmed with how things are going,” she says.
But tell her about the polarizing reviews—one section is liking it, and another section is criticizing it—and that people are "judging a little too much," she says.
She elaborates, “People are different. The country has changed, we are in the 21st century. I am not saying that what was shown in the film (infidelity) was wrong or right... such things happen. The film focuses on why such things happen. Instead of what happened, we should appreciate the courage and courage shown by the filmmakers."
Gujral says this topic was something that had not been addressed much in Hindi cinema earlier. She says infidelity is rampant, "Just now we have a film that portrays reality, so to speak. It's shot in a different way in Gehriyan. People are not accepting the treatment."
He agrees that today, in the age of social media, people tend to be extreme and sometimes even nasty, and the same happened with his film. The film's tonal change from infidelity to thriller was also received as polarizing. "Absolutely. I went for the screening which was organized for the cast. I didn't think it would get such a reaction after watching it. I told Shakun 'I can't go ahead with the film after the interval,'" A lot is happening'. After that, I see people taking up a completely different topic. Where did this thing come from, I wonder. People are behaving like pigeons with their eyes closed,” says Gujral Huh.
