Bruno Fernandes out of Man Utd squad vs Tottenham as travel plans are abandoned

Bruno Fernandes missed Manchester United's game against Tottenham Hotspur due to illness amid fears of a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

The Red Devils' plans for a crunch Premier League clash went awry on Saturday morning when David de Gea tested positive for the coronavirus.

But further uproar ensued when his test proved to be a false result, as sources told Mirror Football, and United's interim manager Ralph Rangnick was still able to select a goalkeeper to start the match.

Unfortunately for Rangnik, however, Fernandes was forced out due to illness – as reported by The Athletic – and a calf injury left Scott McTominay with Luke Shaw, who missed the Manchester derby. had previously contracted Covid-19 last weekend.

Cristiano Ronaldo, however, is back in the starting XI after missing out on a 4-1 humiliation as bitter rivals City rioted at the Etihad.

While Rangnik was focused on fixing things on the pitch this week, last-minute chaos led to the squad being ordered to travel to Old Trafford by car as the team bus ditched.
