Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich wasted a great deal of opportunity and hit the post as they were held 1-1 at Hoffenheim on Saturday, their second consecutive league draw.
The Bavarian, chasing a record-expanding 10th consecutive league crown, had a draw with Bayer Leverkusen last week and won two of their last five league matches.
The hosts took the lead in the 32nd minute with a volley from Christoph Baumgartner at fast post.
Bayern's Thomas Muller put the ball into the net only twice and his side had to wait until the stoppage time of the first half to level. Top scorer Robert Lewandowski led Joshua Kimmich into the corner at the stroke of half-time for his 29th goal of the campaign.
Bayern's third attempt was dismissed for offside, this time Lewandowski, as he pushed for another goal at the start of the second half.
He kept up the pressure but Serge Gnabry hit the post and Jamal Musiala from the side netting after the hosts bounced on persistent defensive errors.
In the 73rd minute, Muller's shot off the line wasted another great opportunity as Hoffenheim tried desperately to stay for a point.
Hoffenheim almost immediately responded with a Lady Kramarik attempt which Manuel Neuer did well to save.
Bayern have 60 points from 26 matches in action against Armenia Bielefeld on Sunday, 50 from 24 with second-placed Borussia Dortmund. The result was bad news for Hoffenheim, who dropped out of the top four, with Freiburg moving to fourth on goal difference after a 3–2 win over VfL Wolfsburg.
"It's a little disappointing not to go home with three points at the end," said Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer.
"It was a really cool game to watch for the neutral fan sitting on the couch. Luck wasn't always with us with offside decisions when we put the ball into the net."
