As comic book blockbuster The Batman wows critics and fans across the world - with the exception of Russia - we take a look at the off-screen life of its biggest star, Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson is once again in the news in Hollywood thanks to his stellar performance in Matt Reeve's The Batman.
The 35-year-old British actor joked that he would turn to "art-house porn" if his version of the comic book hero was not successful, but after rave reviews and big box office hits, it seems We won't see Rob. In the buff anytime soon.
Thanks to his dark portrayal of the billionaire Caped Crusader, fans around the world are flocking to theaters to see Robert on-screen in his latest flick.
As The Batman hits the headlines over the weekend, we take a look at the main star's off-screen life — from past singing ambitions to his sometimes-dramatic love life.
Incredible Harry Potter Destiny
Although he became a major star thanks to the Twilight franchise, many fans remember seeing Robert on screen for the first time during his tenure in the Harry Potter movies.
The Batman actor played Hufflepuff's Cedric Diggory in the fourth installment of the magical saga, which made his theatrical film debut in 2005.
When Lord Voldemort orders Peter Pettigrew to 'kill the extra' in the resurrection in Little Hengleton, Potterheads wept as the actor's character suffers a terrible end during the Triwizard Tournament.
After getting his big break — and before landing an Edward Cullen gig — Robert admitted he could easily avoid that heavy check when considering his next career move.
"I spent a lot of time with 'Harry Potter' money," the actor admitted during an interaction with GQ earlier this month. "I moved into an apartment in Soho, London."
He then admitted that he almost gave up on his acting dream to pursue another creative endeavor – singing.
"I don't know where I had that kind of confidence in him, because no one was saying there was any kind of music career on the table," he explained.
"But I was doing a lot of gigs all the time. I was constantly doing open mic all the time, and then I basically ran out of money."
"I was definitely going in the wrong direction in terms of career, until Twilight," Robert told the publication.
Twilight and 'Painful' Kristen split
Despite the franchise bashing that made him a household name over the years, Robert recently declared that hating Twilight is no good anymore.
While chatting during the promotion of The Batman, the actor's co-star Zo Kravitz admitted that he had never seen the famous vampire saga, to which Robert retorted: "It's not even good to hate now."
"It's 2010," he joked.
The first of the romance fantasy films debuted in 2008, and just a year later, the Edward Cullen actor was linked to his co-star, Bella Swan actress Kristen Stewart.
Their off-screen romance was as dramatic as the movies they occasionally starred in, with the Spencer actress admitting to having cheated on Robert with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
Kristen said in a public apology in 2012, "I am deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment caused to those close to me and to all those affected."
"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life that I love and respect most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm sorry." "
After news of the alleged infidelity broke, Robert reportedly moved out of the couple's home, but Twilight soon reunited and continued to star in the Vampire films together.
Their relationship became a huge pop culture conversation, with even future President Donald Trump weighing in with an opinion, tweeting: "Robert Pattinson shouldn't hold Kristen Stewart back. She's like a dog." Betrayed him and will do it again - just see. He can do a lot better!"
Robert and Kristen finally called it quits for good in May 2013, with the Oscar-nominated actress telling The Daily Beast in 2015: "It was incredibly painful. ... the relationship - you never know**king."
Robert's love life now
After splitting from her Twilight co-star, Robert romanced singer-songwriter FKA Twigs in September 2014.
The actor even asked the singer the question for two weeks, but this was not to happen and the pair ended their relationship in the summer of 2017.
Since 2018, the Batman actor is dating stunning model Suki Waterhouse, with the happy couple living together in London as of July 2020.
While chatting with GQ last month, Robert revealed that his 30-year-old partner had changed locations from London Zoo to Holland Park for his interview.
"I was talking to my girlfriend last night and she was like, 'You know, people don't really like zoos,'" he explained in his recent interview.
"I was thinking of a metaphor. But then I was thinking it's so wrong, a sad bear walking around in circles. I just can't help it.
"I'll do it for every single element, every decision in my life. What's the worst-case scenario for this decision?"
