Virat Kohli recalls hilarious incident when he travelled to Airport in a 'broken' Omni Van

Speaking on the RCB podcast, Virat Kohli recalled how he was once sent to the airport in a 'broken' Omni Van while other players got decent cars.

Former India captain Virat Kohli has had a long journey in cricket, from the streets of Delhi to becoming India's all-format captain, Kohli has seen it all. He comes from very humble beginnings, and despite this, the 33-year-old never lets success go to his head.

Kohli recently recalled an old incident when he traveled to the airport in a broken 'omni van'. True, there was a time when India's next breakout star was forced to travel to the airport in an omni van.

The incident happened when Kohli was teaming up with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the first time.

Speaking on the RCB podcast, the Delhi-born boy recalled how after the season ended in his first season he was later forced to travel in an omni van and was not very happy with it.

"After that season (2008), I was an under-19 boy, I was sent to the airport in an omni van, I was not very happy because everyone else was getting a good car to go to the airport , and I was left alone, and maybe they would have said 'Ah just give him anything, just bring him to the airport'."

The 33-year-old also recalled that the condition of the van was such that he could see the road through the hole inside that van, it was in such a bad condition.

"I'm sorry to say it wasn't a good car, I would have liked at least a good car that wasn't broken, I could see the road from the middle of the car, it was all gone, it was on phase," he said.

When asked how he feels about his association with Bengaluru as a city, Virat revealed that he considers the city his second home, even though he may not have grown up there.

"The city has a very different feel to any other place in India. When you arrive, you land at the airport and you're driving to the hotel, you feel like you've come home It's a very difficult feeling. To move to a city where you weren't born and didn't grow up and you go there for just one period a year," Kohli said.

He has been rested for the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka, but the former India captain is expected to join the squad ahead of the two-match Test starting March 4.
