TOP FOUR BATTLE Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table as Man Utd battle Arsenal and Tottenham for top four

Manchester United will be placed in fourth place and a Champions League spot by Arsenal next season, a supercomputer has predicted.

The Red Devils - along with high-flying West Ham - are currently battling the Gunners for the coveted fourth place.

Mikel Arteta's troops currently have three games on United, which a betting specialist's supercomputer has calculated that the North Londoners will win to overtake Ralph Rangnick's men.

If Arsenal leapfrogged United to fourth place, they would end their five-season relegation from the top four.

To make matters worse for United, the computer has predicted that their local rivals Manchester City will retain the Premier League trophy.

Fifth place will be disastrous for the Red Devils, who are hoping to attract a big-name manager to replace ax-battered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford this summer.

United's fellow Champions League candidates Tottenham and West Ham are expected to finish sixth and seventh respectively.

The supercomputer predictions make for grim reading for the exile fighters, Burnley, Watford and Norwich.

It is predicted that the struggling trio will fail in their respective efforts and end up in 18th, 19th and 20th place.

The algorithm predicts newly-rich Newcastle United - currently four points above the drop zone - will finish in 15th place.

Toon fans will be hoping the prediction comes true so that Saudi-backed Eddie Howe can splurge cash on some marquee signings over the summer.

The Premier League resumed service on Wednesday, with Leeds' trip to Anfield as one of three matches to face Liverpool.

Top-four chasers Arsenal, meanwhile, will welcome Wolves to the Emirates next evening.

And managerless United will host Watford the following afternoon in one of the day's six scheduled matches.
