Diaby double means Leverkusen tighten grip on third place

LEVERKUSEN, February 26 (Reuters) - Bayer Leverkusen's in-form winger Moussa Diaby scored twice in a 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday to cement his hold on third place in the Bundesliga with his fifth league win in the last six games. Did it

Argentine forward Lucas Alario put the hosts in front just before the half-hour mark, benefiting from a lucky deflection and slotting from four meters outside.

The 22-year-old Diaby then charged into the box in the 57th and passed the ball to keeper Stefan Ortega to double his lead.

Diaby, in fine form, tested the Ortega again after a while with less drive. He did much better in the 81st, picking up the ball over the edge of the box and rifling from a tight angle for his seventh goal in the last five league games.

Leverkusen are third on 44 points, four points ahead of Freiburg, 3–0 winners over Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim.

Second-placed Borussia Dortmund are on 49 points and are in action in Augsburg on Sunday. League leaders Bayern Munich, on 55, face Eintracht Frankfurt later on Saturday.
