Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu will be cremated in Ludhiana on Wednesday. His younger brother lives there. Deep died after his car collided with a truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Haryana's Sonipat district on Tuesday evening.
Deep was accused of being the main conspirator of the Red Fort violence on Republic Day last year.
The 37-year-old actor is said to be traveling from Delhi to Punjab when the incident happened near Pipli toll plaza in Kharkhoda.
The accident site was about 25 km from the Singhu border, which was the epicenter of farmers' protests against agricultural laws last year.
A female friend accompanying him was taken to the hospital where his condition is stable.
The police handed over the dead body of Deep Sidhu to his family members after post-mortem on Wednesday. The relatives had reached the General Hospital in Sonipat to collect the dead body.
The actor was a resident of Muktsar district. Sidhu had participated in the farmers' movement against the three agricultural laws of the Center on the borders of Delhi.
Sidhu was a close aide of BJP MP Sunny Deol, who had contested from Gurdaspur seat in Punjab during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had accompanied Deol during the election campaign.
Sunny Deol took to Twitter to mourn the demise of the Punjabi actor.
