Years can fly by, and that's fine with Courteney Cox for the most part.
The "Friends" star, 57, opened up about growing up in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Sunday. Cox said she can relate to the emotional struggle of her middle-aged character in the upcoming Starz drama "Shining Vale", in which she plays Pat Phelps, an erotic novelist who is "going through this medieval crisis slash menopause". "
Cox told the British outlet, "I can clearly relate to the age where you're like, 'Oh wow, I can't believe I'm here,' and (asking) what makes you happy. Is." "I understand that midlife stuff completely."
Cox said it's hard to wrap your mind around the '60s. "Oh my god, this is so hard to hear or say. I can't believe it," she said.
"There's nothing wrong with being 60; I can't believe it," said Cox. "Time goes by so fast. There is no question that I am more grounded, I have learned a lot in my life - what to enjoy, what to try to do more and what to give up. ,
One of the things Cox let go of was undergoing cosmetic procedures to maintain her youthful image while she was on "Friends," which ran from 1994-2004.
"There was a time when you go, 'Oh, I'm changing. I look old.' And I tried to chase after that (youthfulness) for years," Cox said. "And I don't realize it Happened... I end up looking really, really weird with injections and doing stuff to my face that I'll never do anymore."
She continued: "People would talk about me, I guess. But there was a period when I went, 'I have to stop. This is just crazy.' ,
While Cox said the scrutiny of being a great actress in Hollywood may be "intense," she may be her own harshest critic.
"I don't know if it could be more intense than what I put on myself," she said, adding that she "try anything" when it comes to beauty products.
But for Cox, youth is more of a feeling than a date on the calendar.
"I think I'm young," Cox said. "I have a lot of friends in their thirties, and I don't think about it. To me, we're the same age, until I really study it."
