In each of the two sets on Saturday, Nori made a break in the ninth game and then completed it with ease.
"In general, (I hit) my forehand too loopy, my backhand too flat," Nori said of his strategy and variations in the one-hour, 18-minute match. “I was able to direct his backhand into play and defend his forehand quite well. I definitely liked it better in the second set and I think my game is very good in these conditions."
In the sixth game of the second set, the world number 12 suffered just one break point in the match, but a mistake by Tsitsipas ended the threat. Nori made 92 percent of his first serve in the opening set to keep the pressure off, but relied more on his baseline game behind a first-served 57 percent in the second set.
"(My serve) really got me into the match and I was able to relax and execute on the big points," Norrie said, admitting to some early nerves on the stadium court.
