Brighton vs Aston Villa delayed due visitors being stuck in traffic problems

Villa's coach struggled to get off the ground and the team was unwilling to play the scheduled time at 3 pm.

Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse, who is covering the game at Amex, reported on Saturday at 2pm: 'The Aston Villa coach is still nowhere near Amex due to traffic chaos. The kick-off is expected to be delayed at 3.30 pm.

Soon after Villa posted an update on Twitter which read: 'Kick-off has been delayed due to traffic issues. Further details on the new kick-off time will be given in due course.

The coach of the Villa team arrived at around 2.30 pm, with Brighton confirming that kick-off would soon take place at 3.30 pm.

Brighton will be hoping to leapfrog Southampton and return to ninth in the table with a win on Saturday, while Aston Villa could move up from 13th to 11th if results go by.

Steven Gerrard's side are seven points and five places away from the relegation zone in Saturday's action.

The teams were named before the kick-off was confirmed to be delayed.

Brighton started with Sanchez in goal, the last four of Lampty, Veltman, Dunk and Cucurella, Modder, Bisouma and McAllister behind March's midfield, Trossard and Maupay.

Villa's team is Martinez, Cash, Conca, Mings, Digne, McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Ramsey, Coutinho, Ings and Watkins.
