CHICAGO - Most of the time on "Throwback Thursday" on WGN News Now, it accounts for a major moment in his basketball career with the Bulls.
There are certainly plenty to choose from when it comes to Michael Jordan, as the legend created so many incredible moments during his 13 seasons in Chicago.
Whether it's six NBA championships, six Finals Most Valuable Player awards, five of his regular season MVPs, two Slam Dunk Contest wins, or even just one memorable game, finding a great memory from "His Airness" it's easy.
But this February 17th on "Throwback Thursday," we celebrate something different for the superstar: his birthday.
Jordan turned 59 on Thursday and many people took to social media to send their wishes for what many consider to be the greatest player in the history of basketball. The current owner of the Charlotte Hornets is always on top of the minds of fans across the country, and especially here in Chicago.
This birthday week in 2022 will be something extra for Jordan, as he will be one of the players honored at the All-Star Game in Cleveland on Sunday to be part of the NBA's 75th anniversary team. Those athletes will be shown at a halftime ceremony saluting generations of players in the league.
This is a tribute to Larry Hawley's birthday number 59 at number 23 as part of this "Throwback Thursday" on WGN News Now. In case you're wondering, Jordan had one 59 point game in his career – against the Pistons at the Pontiac Silverdome on April 3, 1998.
It came in a winning effort as the Bulls beat Detroit 112–110 on their way to their first 50-win season of the Jordan era.
