Will Forte waited over a decade for his moment in the "SNL" spotlight — only to share it.
The "McGruber" star begins by saying his first monologue as "SNL" host, with musical guest Menaskin, watching his former co-stars (Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis) have a moment of vengeance. Was. Go to host the show.
"After 12 long years, tonight is finally my turn: my time to shine," Forte said. "Tonight, it's all about me."
However, it didn't take long for Forte to base its hosting gig on glory. Wiig suddenly appeared and found his way onto the stage, greeted by thunderous applause from the audience. While Wiig was happy to show moral support for his former classmate, Forte was clearly not happy and told Wiig that his appearance was not on time. "Well, nice to see you, buh-bye," he said to Wiig.
"You know I flew for it," said Wiig, to which Fort replied, "Oh great, so you know where the airport is."

After Wiig's exit, Forte's monologue took an emotional turn, with the Emmy nominee "to say how much this show means to me." But Forte's thunder was stolen once again when the band started playing some music.
"Are you playing me in my own monologue?" Fort said in disbelief. "I've waited 12... years for this. I mean, have you seen some idiot hosting this show since then? Kristen, Bill, Andy..."
Forte decided to take a question from the audience before ending, but he got an embarrassing revelation instead. "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels, along with next week's host Willem Dafoe, informed Forte that "a mistake has been made." Michaels said Dafoe should have been the host this week, and Fort was tapped as a result of an autocorrect texting error.
"You think I'll book someone named Will then someone named Willem?" Michaels told Forte.

Fort turned to the results of a fan-polled poll to justify his hosting status, only to be capped once again. Of the five candidates, including Dafoe, Wiig, and Menskin, Fort ranks lowest with 5% overall, with the only other poll option available: "Quit the show, bring back Tom Hanks."
"Oh my god, 5%?" Fort said. "I think people love me."
