Bumrah five-for hands India Test advantage

Jasprit Bumrah scored 5-42 after tea on the second day of the deciding third and final Test at Newlands to bundle out hosts South Africa for 210 and claim a 13-run first innings lead.

All India fast bowlers were excellent on Wednesday with Bumrah moving ahead with his pace from the surface and ability to pick up bounce on the seaming wicket.

Mohammed Shami (2-39), Umesh Yadav (2-64) and Shardul Thakur (1-37) were also among the wicket-takers.

Keegan Pietersen hit a career-best 72 for the home team and stood almost alone before becoming the fourth victim for Bumrah, the next highest score being Temba Bavuma with 28.

It looks like 'Advantage India' as the home side was hoping for any kind of first innings lead which might be precious as they will have to bat last on a poor wicket which will not be easy.

South Africa resumed at 3–100, but lost to Rassie van der Dussen (21) after a 67 for the fourth wicket with Pietersen. He was caught by Virat Kohli off Umesh Yadav (2-50).

The in-form Bavuma played a fine knock but there was another catch for Kohli at second slip, this time off Shami, who took his second in three balls when Kyle Wren dismissed wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for a duck. Did.

The Indian seamer regularly beat the bat in the morning sessions and when he got the lead, the ball fell short of slip on several occasions.

After lunch, he seemed to be taking a few steps forward, although all the catches were taken too low.

The series is level 1-1 after India won the first Test in Pretoria by 113 runs, before South Africa returned to claim the second by seven wickets in Johannesburg.
