Laxmi Kumari, a trainee woman officer posted at the University police station, committed suicide by shooting herself in the forehead with her service revolver in the barracks late on Thursday. Lakshmi was a inspector of 2017-18 batch. She was the daughter of Trilok Prasad Sah, resident of Kachari Road, Ward 11 of Supaul city.
On getting information about the incident on Friday morning, there was a sensation in the police department. City SP Ashok Prasad, Sadar SDPO Krishna Nandan Prasad, University station in-charge Satya Prakash Jha and police officers of other police stations reached the spot and started investigation. City SP confirmed the incident and said that investigation is on.
City SP said that this incident is a great loss to the police family. We are all saddened by this incident. We have lost a young and hardworking officer. Laxmi's relatives have reached the spot. Further action will be taken after recording his statement.
According to the information, Lakshmi had two brothers and two sisters. She was unmarried and ranked third. He had earphones fitted in his ear at the time of the incident. It is being speculated that before the incident, he had a conversation with someone on the mobile phone. At present, the reasons for the incident are not known. Police is probing all the points.
