'Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story' Review: Love becomes obsession in Michelle Williams starrer

The 'Destiny's Child' member bears most of the weight of Lifetime's 'Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story' and does it with finesse

His Lifetime collaboration with Victoria Christopher Murray, or rather his film series based on his 'A Seven Deadly Sins' stories, launched last year, with the first two outings garnering millions of viewers. Serving as the next installment in the series is 'Rage: A Tale of the Seven Deadly Sins'. Starring Michelle Williams, Antonio Capo, Tina Knowles-Lawson and Romeo Miller in the lead roles, the film is, in short, a tale of affection turning into passion.

The makers didn't hesitate to lay out the story's core conflict in the trailer, but in retrospect, it just as well reflects their confidence in the execution as "Rage: A Seven Deadly Sins Story," despite knowing that it What's up, packs a punch. going to be for the most parts. "Am I crazy? Is that a good catch?" That's what surprises Chastity Jeffries (Williams) after meeting Xavier Collins (Cupo). She also asks Javier if he is "one of the nice guys" he's "heard of the stories?" However, she eventually learns that behind all the nuances lies the person who is full of jealousy, anger, and dare we say anger? So, how does Chastity find out about the other side of Xavier? Keep reading to know!

As the couple grows closer, Chastity introduces Javier to an old friend of hers, Roger (Miller), and the level of friendliness and comfort doesn't sit well with Javier's. This is where tensions build up, eventually leading to abuse of Javier as he begins to accuse her of lying, among other things. As his behavior becomes increasingly violent — or at least moving in that direction — Chastity breaks the whole thing to her mother Sarah (Knowles-Lawson), and also keeps Roger in the loop. How she deals with Javier and if she is able to pull it out without any harm becomes the rest of the story.

As an overview, 'Rage: A Seven Deadly Sins Story' falls under the obsessive and harmful companion category and it has all the essential elements needed to make such a film, but as we look closer, we can see the things being done by the cast. Gone are the efforts to see and the crew make it stand out. Speaking of the cast, Michelle Williams leads the film side by side for most parts, but does it with finesse and grace (when needed). Antonio Capo plays his role very well, bringing tension and turmoil to the film. While Romeo Miller does a fine job as the old friend/childhood sweetheart, Tina Knowles-Lawson shines as Sarah, dropping the bomb with her dialogues. It is commendable as this is the first time he has acted in a feature film.

Troy Scott wastes no time directing, but that too thanks to the writings of Richard Blaney and Gregory Smalls. If you're looking for rankings then technically, the cinematography stands out, with the background score coming in second.

Overall, “Rage: A Seven Deadly Sins Story” is a great addition to Lifetime’s sinful saga and well worth a look, staying true to the network’s female-centric stories. We also have an update for anyone interested or curious about the upcoming installments. 'Greed: A Story of the Seven Deadly Sins', the sequel to the saga, is slated to air on Lifetime on April 23, 2022.
