Watch: Archbishop leads passion and death of Christ commemoration

Catholics are celebrating Friday to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary as the church marks Good Friday.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna leads the celebration at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta.

In his sermon, the archbishop spoke of violence and character assassination as people's response to present-day prophets who told the truth, showing humanity's wounds and reminding people of their responsibilities.

He mentioned victims of injustice, including victims of domestic violence, as well as people who are currently suffering in many places in the world, including Ukraine, Yemen and Libya.

"We must pass our conscience through a sieve, acknowledge our participation in his cruel passion, and understand that the words of forgiveness that he says on the cross and his thirst for our love are for each of us." There is a message for him," Scicluna said.
